Chained

Introduction
“Green eyes, yeah the spotlight, shines upon you.”
She threw her little body into bed. At 15, she’d never felt more fragile in her entire life. So small… So weak… All she wanted to do was crawl under the covers and cry herself to sleep. Maybe she’d dream she was okay again. Maybe she’d dream that he loved her again. Maybe she’d dream again.
Part One
“There’s nothing to live for when you’re sleeping alone…”
Waking up was getting harder and harder. She was learning to desensitize herself, learning to not care. She opened her eyes. Her hand was still swollen and red. She poked at it with her cold fingers. Cold, who did that remind her of? She had a sudden urge to run her hands along his back, but then she remembered he wasn’t there. She turned on her side and blinked slowly. Even her tiny, twin-sized bed was a vast, desolate landscape without him. It was all a teenage drama… She closed her eyes and imagined herself lying in his queen size bed. Purple sheets, green comforter, it was all there. He was there. She was right there next to him. No, she’d feel him, hear him. He’d got up to do something, shower? No, she’d hear that too… He was on the computer in the other room, yeah. She was just waking up, but he was in the other room doing homework, writing an e-mail, something. She was almost there; she could almost see him, hear him. Any minute now and he’d say her name; he’d come in to see if she was awake yet. “Molly?” That wasn’t his voice… It was her own. She opened her eyes and realized the words really had come out of her mouth. “Quinn…” she whispered. She looked at the clock, 3:47, another sleepless night.
